          GETTING TO KRABI

          By Air

Krabi International Airport (KBV) was opened on 10th July 1999 by the then Prime Minister, Chuan Leakpai. It is easily accessible to tourists from different parts of the world, within connected transitional points from the hub cities of Bangkok and Singapore. For example, one can fly in to Krabi from Darwin, Australia through Singapore on Tiger Airways five times a week. Since then, it drew in large numbers of visitors fascinated by the many splendid attractions of Krabi.

The airport is conveniently located 40 kms away from Ao Nang and 13 kms from Krabi Town. The terminal has an area of 10,593 square meters and caters to a maximum of 1,200 passengers. It offers facilities like banks, restaurants, car rental agencies and taxi services.

There is an aircondition Airport Bus service started in 2007, with operating fares to Krabi (100 Baht) and to Ao Nang (150 Baht). The service picks up and drops visitors along the scheduled travel routes where the guest house and hotels are located, meets all incoming flights and serves most outgoing flights. A songthaew to Krabi Town is available from the mainroad outside the airport terminal and as in the case for departing visitors to the airport, they will drop you right at the departure terminal. Motorcycle taxi rides are easily available outside the terminal.

The international departure tax surcharge is around 500 Baht while domestic departure tax is included in the cost of the flight.

Krabi is also easily served and connected by highways from two nearby airports such as Trang Domestic Airport and Phuket International Airports.
